Question Dialog Box
Special Symbols

(Math and Chemistry)

When attempting to put in extended characters, it takes an understanding of which key strokes will place special symbols into a question, its choices or into the answer of fill-in, short answer and essay type questions. However, in PrimeExam, the Editing Toolbar makes inserting special symbols a relatively simple task.

The way by which special symbols can be entered into a question or its choices is as follows:

    1. Open a question bank or exam.
    2. Activate a desired question and the Question Dialog Box will appear.
    3. Move the mouse pointer to the exact point where the symbol is needed.
    4. Click on the left mouse button and the flashing insertion bay will appear.
    5. Click right mouse button.
    6. A panel will appear with the Editing Toolbar as one of the choices.
    7. Hold the mouse pointer over the "Editing Toolbar" and click on the left mouse button.
    8. The "Editing toolbar" will appear.

Click on "Toolbars" in the upper left hand corner and a selection panel will appear.
Next, click on "Chemistry" and six different sets of chemistry symbols choices will appear.

Click on all symbols in the list shown above and the complete chemistry set will appear in the Editing Toolbar.

To place a symbol into a question in the Question Dialog Box, first place the mouse pointer at the desired place for the symbol. Note that not all of the symbols for the elements are included. All symbols are designed to match TimesNewRoman 10.

Click the left mouse button to establish an insertion point in the question text.

Click on any chemistry symbol and it will appear at the desired insertion point. A completed question containg chemistry symbols is shown below.
