There are three basic aspects of this program:
(1) Question Banks
(2) Examinations
(3) Printing
PrimeExam lets you create exams by choosing questions from one or more question "banks" that you prepare. These question banks are typically broken down by the subject matter you will be testing against, but their organization is really up to you. You should use care in preparing question banks, because they are your most valuable testing resource - once the banks are built, new exams can be created very quickly, even automatically, by using PrimeExam's question selection tools. Then, once a question set has been chosen for a specific exam, you can make multiple forms of it (questions randomized) to foil cheaters, and format the exam's printing and keys to meet your specific needs.
The preparation of Question Banks is the most time consuming part of PrimeExam. Once this has been accomplished however, the amount of time spending on creating exams will diminish dramatically. Only revising and adding new questions reflecting changing course needs by the instructor will be necessary.
Question banks can be built by adding questions one by one simply by typing each question as a new entry. However, PrimeExam Gold has an efficient feature called Auto Convert that greatly eases the task of adding questions to established question banks or creating new question banks. Auto Convert can convert old exams stored on disks in a text format, into a new format that is easily integrated into the PrimeExam software program. This makes part of the task of building new question banks much easier. What PrimeExam cannot do is evaluate the level of difficulty for each question. That is a task that can only be accomplished by the instructor of the course.
One problem that can often occur is the appearance of two or more questions that, if not identical, are too close in content to appear on the same exam. PrimeExam allows the instructor to enter an Index number for each question. For questions that are too similar to appear on the same exam, will given the same Index number by the instructor. PrimeExam will not allow two questions with identical Index number to appear on the same exam.
When creating exams from one or more question banks, a random question selector can be used (Auto Random). Special questions that an instructor may want to appear on an exam can be placed on that exam by a Drag-and-Drop method. At any time, the instructor can also create new questions by typing into an easy-to-use Question Dialog Box.
To reduce the possibility of cheating, multiple Forms of an exam, having randomly mixed questions, can easily be generated in less than a second, once an exam has been prepared.
Finally, keys to exams and their forms can be printed. In the question dialog boxes, there is a place to enter an answer, whether it is a multiple choice, short answer or essay type question.
